marinedrift
Yes I did it in London about 7 years ago. It is very laborious. I ended up opening the post as it was more fun. You meet some good people though

absynthfairy
What papers are you applying to mark? I have been approached to mark edexcel Religious Studies papers but I am a head of RE in a school. Surely you have to be qualified in the subject area? kittencapes
It is marking Geography A Level papers, all you need to do it is a degree in the relevant subject, scary really!
freddyfarang
I used to work there supporting examiners on ePEN, the system you use. It was a nightmare at first but after a few cycles the technical problems seem to be sorted out now and the examiners I spoke to got into it after a while. As you generally only mark part of the paper and not the whole paper eg. question 3 and question 7, for instance, it can be a little tedious but from what I understood the pay was good, you do it in your own time and basically you can do it from anywhere in the world. SO go and sit on a beach somewhere, we had one examiner on a boat off the coast of France! The assesments you mention are mainly to discuss how you will mark the paper and that everyone is reading from the same script to ensure consistency across examiners.
