spinac
Sorry folks, seemed I jumped the gun in posting this ... my Just Giving page has only just been activated - http://www.justgiving.com/KenCooper No it's not a Great White in the tank it's a 10ft Sand Tiger as well as Rays ... the same as the one that killed Steve Irwin? I'll ask on the day! She'll be right mate!
GabbleRatcht
I'm an open water diver and have seen many sharks amongst many other amazing things. You don't know what you'll get! Most are harmless, unless you antagonise them. Leopard, nurse, black and white tips. The best one was swimming with a six meter Whale shark. But, of course, they are plankton feeders, as are basking sharks. No interest in great whites. The water is too cold and you have to bait them to come. I think it's a bit cruel just for entertainment, and anyone can get into a cage. Good luck. And enjoy. You'll be fine
spinac
Cheers, GabbleRatcht ... I know it's not open water, but it is a big aquarium - it will be a fantastic up-close experience ... I won't be doing any antagonising!!!
Dirtydog
I did this dive a few years ago. You realise just how strangely silent these big creatures are; it was only seeing someone on the other side of the perspex, wide-eyed and pointing above me that I looked up to see one of the sand-tigers inches above my head - I know the rule in diving is never hold your breath underwater but I thought "best not **** the shark off" and duly stopped bubbling until they'd gone. Give my regards to Wilma.
