Which youth club did you go to?

Recommended Posts

In 1959-61 I went to the Ebenezer youth club on Barnsley Rd. I met my hubby there, anyone else out there who went around then? Or is it too long ago

I remember that!!

Dore Youth Club on a Monday, St. Johns (Abbeydale) on a Thursday, and Totley on a Friday.

Then I discovered pubs and it all went downhill!!

Yes I went to Dore and St Johns.............good memories...

I used to go to Hurlfield Youth Club in the early seventies. It was a purpose built site just next to the school on East Bank Road. We thought it was brilliant at the time, it had its own kitchen to serve snacks and drinks and it even had a disco with saloon doors which was dark and night clubby! Used to go a couple of times a week, and then straight down to Beckett's chip shop on the Manor Top for supper, maybe calling into the back of Manor Top library to spy on anybody that might be snogging...happy days!!!

Anyone remember St Paul's youth club at the church hall on the Arbourthorne - top of East Bank Road - what a bunch of characters!! Many of us "grew up" there, all happening around 1956-60.

I REMEMBER GOING THERE AROUNG 1939 AROUND THE FIRST TIME IT OPEN

I used to go Hyde Park Youth Club - think it was Thursday nights and it was something like 10p to get in!! There were pinball machines were at the back of the place on the upper-floor near the café bit and there was a dark room with a TV in it and carpet on the walls! :loopy:

I used to do gymnastics there too twice a week in the school lunch hour and I seem to recall it had "grown-ups" in there using OUR facilities - God forbid!! :hihi:
