oldrowley
Great memories of the Saturday night dances at Norton Church Hall circa 1960. My mates and I used to travel across from Ecclesall, as it was such a good night out. Remember meeting and dating a lovely brunette there called Hilary Rigby who worked at Cole Brothers when it was on Fargate. Does anyone remember the ballroom dancing classes run at the hall by the Saynor's (I think that was their name - maybe brother and sister). mikeyh
I would have loved to go to Jordanthorpe Girls but I was a boy. However my mother Mrs Hughes taught English there for several years.
Colley76
I went to Norton Youth Club between 1960 & 63?. Also went to the church hall dances. Met my wife there in 63, that's when I stopped going to the YC. I remember the snooker table & the home made record player. Also the 2 girls who always made the coffee. Colley76
Hi, i think thats about the years i was going to the youth club, the Robbins twins would go along with a lad called Richard Robinson,Jakie and Margaret, oh such memories. The Robbins twins played in the local band, originaly called the Rolling Stones, renamed to something else when the real Stones came along. I remember Richard Robinson, he had a sister called Jill. They lived just up the road from me in Norton Lane.
