Marky Baby
Hello, I'm looking for a polo, turtle or roll neck double knitting pattern to knit for my daughter. 24" chest. Looked on the internet for a free pattern but haven't had chance to hit the shops yet. Can anyone recommend any. Would prefer a plain pattern, but will put up with a bit of cable! Thanks a lot - Wifey of Marky Babe
beansforyou
I'm afraid patterns aren't my speciality, but if I see one I think might interest you I shall let you know I have heaps of older patterns, would it have to be an upto date pattern or would you like me to have a look through for you? littleblue
Can I ask how old your daughter is? The reason being I'm knitting a cardie for an 18th month old and have no idea how big a child of this age is. So i've made it 20 inches as thats the smallest the pattern goes. And it looks a *bit* on the large size (please read that as HUUUUUUUUGE)
Marky Baby
Hiya beansforyou, i'm not boved if the pattern is dated or not, a polo neck is a polo neck to me! If I knit it in a nice colour, and I like the pattern, everything should be okeydokey!! I'm trying to adapt a pattern at the minute. So far, I'm half way up the back, so wish me luck when I get to the neck! You can have a look through your patterns if you like, but please don't go to a lot of trouble. Thanks for your interest. Marky Baby
Hello to you too littleblue! My daughter will be 4 next month. She is a small 4 though, ie, a 3yr school skirt from M & S was miles too big for her! She is about 23/24" chest but tall, so I have to make the jumper/cardi longer in the body and the sleeves. Can you ask the parents of the child to measure it, or is it a surprize? It usually says in the pattern the size of the pattern and age of child. Some don't though do they? Good luck with your cardi and think she/he can always grow into it, it's better than it being too small!!

And it looks a *bit* on the large size (please read that as HUUUUUUUUGE) I've just looked in my Debbie Bliss book (Baby Knits patterns) at a cardi pattern. It has the measurements for a cardie for 12-24 months as Chest 25 3/4 in, length to shoulder 12 1/2 in and sleeve length 8 3/4 in. Hope this helps. littleblue
Thank you for that! She'll grow into it Its better too big than too small! (and it isn't measuring 20 inches either - much much bigger! that'll teach me to do a tension square next time!!)
Marky Baby
I've never done a tension square. I suppose there will come a time when I have to though! Bye for now - good look with your cardi
