chillicat
I can't find any mention of timescales. Anyone know when this is supposed to start and finish?

tinkabel
I think the plans look amazing, i can't see it shaking off its reputation though, are these still going to be council or will they be private when completed?
Zaytsev
I think the plans look amazing, i can't see it shaking off its reputation though, are these still going to be council or will they be private when completed? I think the plans look terrible. That's why it will fail IMHO. Do you think anyone will pay upwards of £150,000 for an apartment in what will basically be ex council tarted up concrete tower blocks when their are private developments of modern apartments going up all over/. Also a large proportion of the properties will still be for rent, another reason people will not buy them. The monstrosity needs de-listing and blowing up. I wonder how many of the great and the good of the who gave the go ahead will put their money where their mouth is and live there?

Ms Macbeth
I think the plans look amazing, i can't see it shaking off its reputation though, are these still going to be council or will they be private when completed? I agree with you about the plans. Urban Splash have had some great successes in Bradford, Manchester, Birmingham etc, etc. As far as I can gather, there will be some flats for social renting, but I don't know if they'll be kept by the council or be taken over by a housing association. There will probably be some other housing classed as 'affordable' available on a part rent/part buy basis, and some purely for sale in the private sector. Here's a link. http://www.urbansplash.co.uk/us.php (Go to 'in the pipeline' and scroll.) I think there will be people who want to live there when it is developed, the views over the city are wonderful.
Paulmat
I agree that people will want to live there. Like you said, Urban Splash have done some brilliant stuff, and also the appartments are quite a bit larger than those you get in these modern developments. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see though.
*_ash_*
The section near Park Square I think is completely empty as there is no communal lighting at night. I agree with the people who say demolish them, total waste of money. As for the people who want to keep it, my answer has always been, keep the section on Duke St open (which is free standing, and only connected by 2 walkways, which could be replaced with a lift shaft), do them up, and flatten the rest. That way we have a little bit of history still up, but the rest can be flattened. ash
