Inverse Snobbery in Sheffield.

Recommended Posts

It gets rid of the ruling classes who at the outset stole our land. Just payback time. Get off our land that you stole ....simple.

not really. There is no 'ruling class' to identify who you can then steal the land back from. You've no way of identify who the previous owners were or who their descentants are, so no way to reallocate it.

And it fails to take into account anyone who in the last 200 years has made themselves and then passed on money to their children.

Do you expect to be able to pass on anything to your children, what you're advocating is that you shouldn't be able too, no matter how small or large the amount.

There is a guy who sits in the House of Lords who can trace his family tree back to the invasion of 1066....his ancestors were some of the thieves. He would be a good starting point. Strip him of his status, seize his and all his families ill gotten assets and share it equally amongst the population. Fair, right , just and proper. It is not stealing , it is merely reclaiming what is rightfully ours.

I DONT LIKE THIEVES!

are you suggesting that the only way forward is to split the country up into identically sized plots and assign one to each person? that sounds very fair. it would stop any kind of superiority...oh, hang on, if i got a plot with just rock in it, and someone else got a plot with a nice bit of arable land, they would soon be in a better position than me, and i'd have to find ways to buy his crops off him. i guess he'd end up controlling my food source...looks like there's a ruling class that way, too.

there's been several animal population studies done that show that without 'policing' (the 'ruling class' who set the rules and punish those who break the rules) within the population, a population will self destruct.

"stole" is an interesting choice of word. do you honestly mean it?

I agree babychickens, it would be 'my plot is beside the river, pay me to get water' - human nature at its finest! Communism has been tried and it doesn't seem to me to be a model for a thriving and honest society. It just appears to replace one set of people in charge with another set, often more corrupt and totally committed to the politics of envy! I worked beside a bloke in the 60s, he thought that everyone should be paid about the same, and money should have a 'spend by' date on it. In his world there would be no saving - just spend as you go. His theory was that everyone would have a similar standard of living. However, his life style included quite a lot of fags and booze, and he seemed to really resent people who wanted to save money or spend it on things like buying a house? His thinking made an impact on me as an impressionable youngster - I thought it was completely daft.

Real socialists want equality for all.

Instead of envy for those with more than you, why not assume till otherwise proven that the person with the goods has earned them properly?

If you earn enough , or win the lottery why should anyone begrudge you?

I realise that this isn't going to go down too well here from what I've been reading but as a new comer from the South to Sheffield I have notices a LOT of this "inverted snobbery"

I've been snubbed in shops as soon as I've opened my mouth, I've been shouted at by beggars when I've said "no" for being a "posh t**t* I've had "go back to where you've come from" comments from many locals and even in my department at uni have been at the end of nasty comments because I live in a nice area (someone actually accused me of taking a home a local should have and that people like me drive the prices up and mean the locals can't live in nice areas!!!) I've had hideous comments because I'm young and drive a new car and so many accusing me of being a daddy's girl just because I've worked hard and speak with a "posh" accent and went to a private school

I'm sick of it!! Its enough to make me want to leave such an insular place.

However the nicest person I've come across is the cleaner for the apartment block. I could never ask for a nicer person to share a cup of coffee with. So its not all doom and gloom eh?

The jelousy I've come across is much worse than anywhere else I've ever lived and it doesn't do much for the image of the place to be honest!

There was a bloke on the radio last week, he's only 25 and already he's worth 18 Miliion quid cos he had a good business idea that the bigwigs coughed up £25 Mil to get him started on, and the bloke's minted now! I officially hate him!

Yeah I know I shouldn't get all bitter, but it is annoying that people flog themselves to death for years, and never see even £1,000,000 let alone £18,000,000 and yet some kid gets lucky and is now loaded!! There's no logic to it at all IMO.

Glad you caught my interview Rich.:hihi:
