I recently come across the epupz website as i know someone who used it to buy his english bull terrier. Do you think it's good to buy and sell puppies in this way?any opinions as my boyfriend is thinking of buying a dog this way when we can afford it

Nononono!, absolutly avoid it like the plague. breeders only advertise on there because they cant sell their pups IMO, which suggests they are not the best breeders you will find. contact the breed club, Kennel club and local dog societies. They can point you in the direction of decent breeders.

Whats IMO mean?

The prices seem high like breeders prices.

I was worried because the person i know said when he went to fetch the pup that they were gypies/travellers.

But the dog is lovely.

Anyway it won't be for a while but when the time comes i'll check for breeders in the area.

Thanks

I agree with B&2s and bobtailbabe,

There are some responsible breeders who advertise on epupz as I have spoken to them BUT it's very time consuming weeding out the good from the bad and you're better off just visiting the breed club website and searching through the breeder's list. All the breeders on the list should have been vetted by the breed club.

When we decided we wanted a beagle, I took myself off to a dog show to meet several breeders in one place

The best shows to go to are either specific breed shows, or the championship shows. A calender of shows is available from pedigree petfoods if you ask them for it. Google their website (put in 'masterfoods' if 'pedigree' doesn't find it straight away ;) )

.... Or, click the link in my signature to find the breed rescue - there will often be pups available through this channel, either because somebody has bitten off more than they can chew in taking a pup on, or perhaps if an accidental mating has taken place and the litter have been rejected by mum

Either way, have a read of this thread and you'll find some more useful info here :)
