GazB
I get free AA cover with my bank, and both times I've had to call them out they've been there within an hour... Once I was deep in the countryside! And both times it was sorted within 20 minutes. I can't comment on RAC or Greenflag, but I personally recommend the AA. steelhead31
Can't comment on the RAC, but the AA have always been on time, and have done everything possible to get the car mobile again, regardless of where I've been.. they've also towed the car home for me when there was nothing wrong with it, but I had inadvertently fractured my leg and couldnt get home.. Cheers Scott
xchubbs1987x
The RAC have ALWAYS been great for my family and they all use the RAC. Don't go with AA, there cheesy singing is enough to put anyone off! (j/k)
nightwish
Mental pictures! I've been with the AA for a couple of years. I was previously with Green flag and RAC. To be honest, IMO, they're all much of a muchness. All I would say is to make sure you get the appropriate level of cover, you don't want to get caught out. yes my work van would not start 2 weeks after the AA had fixed it!! they had changed the the distributor 4 sec hand one he had on his van but the one he fitted had points in it not electric ignition the same as the old one he took off ! the AA bloke that come out well it was christmas day! said that coz the other AA man he had rewired part of the car 4 the points ignition to work all i did was clean the points and off i went home:thumbsup: I was driving a new car with AA cover from Suzuki run out of petrol + we had our kid in the car they said 4 hours you will have to wait 4 a gallon of petrol!!!! then 2 months later when the green flag came up on my car we covered both cars again with green flag
Superlative
I joined the AA but found the meetings rather boring. I suggested they held them in the pub but they wouldnt hear of it.
fox20thc
The RAC are off-shoring their call centre. I'm not being funny but if I had broken down I wouldn't be keen on the idea of explaining to someone in India where I was.... Had no problems with the AA when I have called them out. Not for breakdown.. RAC is now as you should know Meaks owned by Aviva which is better known as Norwich Union. Norwich Union do their own breakdown service Norwich Union Rescue (which is actually quite a good price) and if you have a breakdown you get either one of their patrols or the RAC - kind of belt and braces tactics. As far as I am aware rescue calls are and continue to be handled in the UK.
MonkeyLover
I'm with the AA, I had to call them out about 2 months ago - and they arrived within about 10 minutes. Had to tow me back to my home, where I got the car fixed later - big job! No experience with any of the other companies

silversculpt
Well I'm with RAC, dont really know why, ever had to call them out (yet!) will have to see what the service is like (if I ever need them!). Why do we feel compelled to shell out for insurance policies and breakdown cover on everything we own now, the car, the fridge, the tv, the vaccuum cleaner, the PC. Where will it all end???
