gpsy
It seems reading this site that many of us in Sheffield are getting fed up with careless drivers, boy / girl racers and bikes in public areas without helmets etc. I am not sure if I have just witnessed the owner of this vehicle doing this or if it was stolen, but a scooter registration V293 EA* (removed last letter for privacy) has just shot through the Hillsborough Barracks with 2 riders on it. They were on the pavement, beeping constantly, travelling at speed (on a pavement, not a road or area for vehicles) and the passenger wasn't wearing a helmet. I am fed up of people putting other people's lives at risk through their careless and stupid riding or driving. What right do these people have to injure or kill others? What can we do to stop these people from ruining our streets and public places?
cgksheff
Have you called it in on 101 or 999?
gpsy
No, I wouldn't consider it a 999 issue and was on hold when calling the other number and by this point the scooter was long gone and without any evidence to put along with my complaint I suspected it would be more of a waste of time for all concerned than of any use, thinking back this may have been a mistake though as there could be other reports of this vehicle. While I don't want to see vigilante rule, I do think that maybe we as a community in Sheffield could get more involved in combatting this problem. These people can't be unknown to everyone, there must be people out there that know who's doing what and must realise that it's only a matter of time until these people kill or injure themselves or others. These people should either stop them themselves or pass on information to the Police. The next child to be hit by a joyrider, if you know who the joy rider is and do nothing then you yourself are part of the problem. I'll be dialling 101 now. Paddy
It was probably the 2 thieving gits that have been going round the Crookes and Walkley area's recently . They break into cars and then speed off on a scooter that is no doubt stolen also. Next time you see them ring it in on 999 and say that you think they have just stolen the scooter by the way they were riding it. Make sure you mention the riding on the pavement bit and people having to jump out of the way etc etc. I hope a bus pulls out on them and they fall off and get a face full of tarmac !!! Bikertec
With the amount of CCTV's around now you would think the police would be able to do something about it now.

DinnoCanary
No it's certainly not a 999 call but you MUST report it on the normal SYP line every time. My neighbours and I call every time and eventually the Police can build up a picture of the size of the problem and they will do their best to stop it. In Dinnington, we rang daily and left a message for two weeks and the problem has all but stopped now. Its very rare we get nuisance bikes near us. Ms Macbeth
When I lived in Bramley in Rotherham we had this problem on fields just behind our house - then they built more houses so the bikers moved onto the old colliery site. I thought we'd left it behind, but looks like its followed us to Hillsborough.............
