stumathers
Hi. I went to Drakehouse today and noticed that about 4 retail units look like thay are being demolished and the carpet right + halfords units are closing down. There also lloks like some building work might be starting next to halfords. Are they adding new units or one big one or a supermarket??

There also lloks like some building work might be starting next to halfords. Are they adding new units or one big one or a supermarket?? Planning permission was granted about a month ago to knock the Halfords unit and the three next door (thats have been always empty) into one larger unit and build another small unit at 90 degrees to the rest, the result will see two smaller units in the main block, a larger unit which Homebase are going to rent, with a garden centre and another smaller unit I suspect Halfords will take the new unit at 90 degrees to the rest, so they can then rebuild the old Halfords into the Homebase ? or has Halfords shut already ???? bigbadgib
I was in Halfords (Drakehouse) on Monday, and they were saying that they are moving next to JJB into a larger unit - that was from one of the management team.

Haydn1971
I bet Focus are chuffed at that Perhaps they might open more tills at busy times, so people don't have to queue to pay them money ! A little gripe of mine, PC World (at Meadowhell Retail Park) is the same, I've moved my business to B&Q & Homebase and online for PC stuff... One of mine is 'fast food' restaurants. Go in at 10am and theres about 10 people serving, go in at lunch time and how many are there serving? 2 of them with a queue out of the door. Strix
am I mistaken, or are they making the new bits two storey?
Haydn1971
am I mistaken, or are they making the new bits two storey? I'm wondering if the Architects have noticed the High Tension cables over the top of the site - they are mid drop right about the site and look very close to where the roof of the steel sheds woudl be ;¬) Imagine the call from the site manager, "erm, we have a minor problem !" Strix
Architects don't notice things like that! That's the engineer's responsibility
angle20
I'm wondering if the Architects have noticed the High Tension cables over the top of the site I once heard of a case where planning permission was granted for a building which then knocked out the TV reception for a large number of homes.
