sparklygem
Anyone had trouble trying to change from aol and go with someone else? Ive just spent the past half hour on the phone trying to get a MAC code so i can go over to tiscali, only to find out that they cant give me one because my line is LLU and not DSL Anyway, ive got 2 choices....they said they can give me 8 meg at a reduced price of £24.99 a month with a brand new wireless router (as i told them mine got blown up with lightening a while ago ), or be without broadband for around 20 days while my aol account gets cancelled and i start from scratch getting tiscali onto my line. I really don't know what to do :help: :help:
steev
If they're giving you THAT much hassle do you really want to stay with them? Personally I'd take the time without broadband, withdrawal syptoms & all, just to get shot of AOL. Good luck, & please, before you go to tiscali, check out some more ISPs here. A friend used to do tech support for Tiscali, they're no angels, even compared to AOHell

steev
Well there's free (no set up, just use) dial up here to keep you going, but going back to dial-up you'll be begging AOL to come back after a week!

Free?? i will certainly miss the broadband, but im sure itll be worth it in the long run, saving me £12 a month switching from AOHell :o
steev
Well, free apart from the call charges... Assuming you don't have to go out & find someone who's still selling modems
Savannah2
Tiscali!!... I would do more homework before going to Tiscali. Have a look at NewNet or IDNet,there is a comparison of all 3 here If it's price, then NewNet maybe a good choice for you, only a months contract, none of this 12-18 month kak either....Another one I like is Namesco You may be OK with Tiscali if you don't download heavily, just using the Internet for surfing and email use. Although Tiscali offer their service as Unlimited they, like many other ISPs have a FUP in place. Tiscali operates a fair usage policy to protect the quality of service to its customers. If we believe your use of the broadband service is adversely affecting our network (or any part of it) or our other customers we reserve the right to manage or regulate your usage in accordance with the fair usage policy........not really unlimited
Savannah2
Don't know if this is information is useful to you on LLU
D2J
Hey Gem, By joining up with Broadband Provider directly they won't always give you best deals, I'd have a look at Unravelit and compare the best on the market at the moment.. Happy hunting

I do tend to download quite a bit tho but only use it evenings and weekends (but not constantly) EDIT: Had a look at Newnet, said its incompatible
