katmakenian
Hi everyone This is my first day on this forum so hello to you all! I've been knitting for 18 months or so and I love it and can't get enough of it! lol I'd like to know if anyone out there knows of a place to purchase glass knitting needles. I love the idea of knitting with different materials too and have even bought some fishing line to try out!! Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks! Lucy-Lastic
Welcome to the group:D. We discussed this a little while ago here - there might be something useful there:) What needles do you normally use?
doodle
I was in hobbycraft the other day and they have clear plastic ones with a colour inside - the coloured bit looks a bit like them plastic twirl things you hang outside and they spin in the wind. I haven't seen any glass ones though.
Guest
Hello and welcome to the group . Those glass needles are lovely, though I'm not too sure how nice they'd be to knit with. Not very flexible. I think I'd like to have a jar of them to arrange artfully on a shelf. Maybe take them out to stroke occasionally .
katmakenian
Hi to you all! Thanks everso much for the replies - I really appreciate it. I love the glass knitting needles at Purlescence - I feel myself reaching for my cheque book right now.... and WOW for those light up needles - I'd like to just try them out to see what it's like! I usually use aluminium needles or plastic ones. I'll have to go and have a look around HobbyCraft although they don't have a fantastic selection in there for knitting and crochet, which is a tad annoying! Thanks again to you all for such a lovely welcome! Love Kat xx
beansforyou
Surina Needles are my favourite, with the turned ends. The wood is very smooth and warms as you use them they have some here but I pick mine up from Winghams a bit cheaper when I go (they just didn't have a good pic)
Wool4brains
The double pointed needles were £4 a set at Wingham Woolwork, I know because I was hanging my nose over a set of 2.5mm last weekend. There's a fair bit of difference between £7.65 and £4. The only reason that I didn't buy them was that I couldn't see them surviving more than one sock heel and I can't think that I'd be bothered to change back to metal needles for the heel. I'm still trying to find a rational reason why I should have a pair of wooden sock needles, I suspect that I'll just buy them anyway next time I'm there.
