lyndix
I bought a reconditioned fridge freezer from Appollo 2 months ago for £180, it has a 6 month warranty, the fridge has stopped working(its colder in my kitchen than in the fridge). They have sent an engineer out and he says "may be able to fix it, poss 2 weeks for part to come, or we could exchange it for another one of same value!" However, they don`t have any fridge freezers of the same value in at the moment, the cheapest is £320. Does anyone know how I stand on this? Can I just ask for my money back? Do they have to provide a substitute? By the way, I have had lots of stuff from Appollo over the years, and never had any problems! I would appreciate anyones help onthis one asap, as I have 3 young kids and can`t manage without a fridge!
never wrong
I cannot see a problem two weeks without a fridge the weather at the moment does not really mean you want a fridge wait for the part to come have repair done problem solved
lyndix
If I was on my own I would totally agree with you on that, but I have 3 young children, I have already had no fridge for a week! Problem now been solved, my partner has just got back from there, they`ve been very apologetic about it, given a very good discount and free delivery on a new one, to be delivered this afternoon! Heyesey
Whether or not they have to provide a substitute depends on the terms of the warranty. I don't think you can claim under your legal rights if it breaks down after two months; that's just bad luck. It doesn't really suggest that the reconditioning was badly done. I may be wrong about the two-months bit; the CAB would know better.
jinnertomcat
I would tell Apollo that you are rejecting the item under the Sale of Goods & Supply of Services Act as it is not of reasonable quality. even a re-conditioned model should "reasonably" last for more than 2 months. You should be legally entitled to your money back.
lyndix
Thanks for your input, at the minute I am awaiting delivery of my new one(should be here this afternoon). I have got to say the guys at Apollo gave us excellent discount and couldn`t stop apologising. A happy ending after all.
WallBuilder
I've used Apollo for years and have always had good and reliable service from them, I'm glad to see that when problems do occur they don't just fob you off and ttreat you badly. curvyxkitten
well with regards to the warrenty they have to fix it or give u another model of the same value like they stated but not being without a fridge for 2 weeks is ridiculous i would complain or just go on one that usually does the trick. The replacement part may have to come from overseas or may be in constraint, that's not the vendors problem and if your polite in your plight, as in this case, you sometimes get more than would be reasonably expected. Let's not turn into our moaning cousins from accross the pond that sue when someone farats near them!! It's consumers that cry foul every time the tinyest thing goes wrong that makes life hell for the rest of us. PS re con units are not covered by the majority of the sale of goods act, although they should be as advertised and fit for purpose.
TESTPASS
get together a group of people with banners saying that there customer care is cr4p and make there buisness hard to run for a day or so. no matter how much things break , you should be entitled to a reasonable amout of use out of it before it does. I bet your money didnt wear thin the day after and become useless Its about customer satisfaction razorsharp ,not how much money the seller can accumilate. put up a notice if you want to get a rent a crowd going and ill join ya
