Recommended Posts

also been told about the scams regaurding pick pockets etc.

seems the one to watch at the moment is people offering a good deal on currency exchange then "plain clothed" police getting involved and taking wallets off tourists for "i.d" . have to say though if they manage to get any money off him then theyre better than me:hihi:

Been twice.

Lots to see and do but TBH, after a few days it gets a bit samey. As said above, quite a dirty city, LOTS of crappy commercial eateries etc.

It's great for shopping and so easy to nagivate with the grid-like streets - it's impossible to get lost!, especially when you have landmarks such as Sagrada Familia(sp?).

We stayed at the fantastic OMM hotel which is situated just off Passeig de Gracia.

Can recommend restaurants such as Tragaluz (near OMM), Salero (El Born), Sal Cafe (on the beach front).

Nightlife isn't as good as people make out although La Terraza (set in a castle on a hill) was amazing!! but closed down now sadly. We also went to a secret one-off new years morning club set in an underground car park which was brilliant!!

Las Ramblas is the main tourist area but it's nothing more than a slightly glammed up Oxford St, dare i even say, our Moor!

It's a great city don't get me wrong, but wouldn't want to go for more than a few days.
