If she's still normally bright and playing, and the eye's not cloudy or inflamed, then there will be no harm with just bathing it with warm water twice a day for a couple of days to see if it improves by itself.

If, however, she shows any sign of sneezing or coughing (which will indicate that the gummy eye is the result of a cold) or the eye is swollen or cloudy, then you need to get her to a vet without delay, or risk her having her eyesight damaged permanently by infection (and I'm sure that's not something that you want on your conscience).

I'm moving this to the pets group BTW- where the other pet-friendly people off the forum hang out.

could just be conjunctivitus,or maybe its got a little scratch on its eye nwhen my older cat has had a tiff with the younger cat she sometimes gets a gammy eye,a day or 2 of bathing it and it clears right up.but if the lil kitties sneezing and looking generally unwell then get her 2 a vets asap.

ignore the stupid comments nothing wrong with asking for advice on a matter that may not need veterinary advice:roll: .good luck:thumbsup:

You can now buy eye drops that contain kloramfenikol over the counter, if you go to the vet they will give you drops that contain the same ingredient. My cat gets weepy eyes so I use kloramfenikol which I bought when I was in Goa, I stocked up because it was really cheap! If it's just a minor eye infection I would use that for a week, you want to be sure it's not caused by something stuck in it's eye though and I ain't no VET so don't quote me!

has you kitten had a flu injection as well, when i got my first kitten she started with a runny swollen eye which spread to the other as well,(i initially tried eye drops, to no avail) i took her to the vet, she had cat flu. we had to give her antibiotics (which was fun) but she recovered fine, she had yearly booster injections for the cat flu.

It may not be cat flu, but if it persists or spreads to the other eye i would definetly take the kitten to the vets.

Hope the kitten gets better soon

Helen
