Finding a lazy unambitious singer in Sheffield

I have a nifty little electronic recording set up in a rehearsal room in Sheffield and have recently finished a couple of projects I've been working on with singers I've known for years. I'll shortly be reaching the "now what?" stage.

Rather than start doing instrumental music or spending hours processing my own voice to make it sound listenable, I thought it'd be nice to work with someone new; maybe a vocalist who writes their own words and music, perhaps even one who does music in a totally different genre.

The problem is that I don't know where to start looking for one who has the same complete lack of ambition as me. I don't want a record deal, don't want to make money, don't even want to play live. All I'd like to do is produce a few songs purely as a bit of fun without worrying about finishing them in a fixed amount of time.

So where would I find a singer who doesn't want to be on pop idol, is entirely attitude-free and is more interested in creativity than celebrity?

If you're that singer, or knows someone who is, pm me; though it'll probably take me a week or two to reply........

What kind of stuf is it?

Do you have lyrics?

Well the idea is to start with a blank sheet of paper and try to get out of a creative rut, so although I do write lyrics occasionally, I prefer singers who write their own as they tend to sing their own words a lot more naturally.

It is however a wholly electronic computer-based set-up; but of course you can get computers to sound like pretty much any kind of music these days.....

pm me if interested and we'll arrange a meeting (as i work in Leeds and my music room's in Sheffield this would have to be on a weekday evening after 6pm)

Hi Basil,

(I'm not actually Jacqui but her husband)

You have described what I am very accurately! I write my own music and am told that I sing reasonably well. Myself and a friend have been practising together in Sheffield for about a year but have not played in public although eventually we aim to do a pub gig or similar. We are currently discussing recording for fun but haven't got beyond discussion apart from some live unedited recordings using Cubase software. We both enjoy creating music and jamming as well as coming up with finished pieces from time to time.

I play the guitar and trumpet my friend plays guitar and violin. If this sounds interesting I'd like to hear from you.

Paul
