yosser_huges
Hey guys, I want to hook up the spare STB /w card, up to the television in my room. but need to keep the functionality of the box in the living room, nans room, and broadband in my attic. The story goes like this, the first installation in the home was into the main living room, secondly after 2 year we had telewest install an additional STB in my nans room. A year later i bought a desktop and had to install it in my nans room. we got telewest to install broadband, they came and put a splitter ( i think) on the wall. then after a year, i moved the computer into the attic directly above my nans room. telewest wanted to charge me £70 for the privilage so i bought some ct100 and just replace the cable and fed it through to windows. Now i want telewest tv in my attic and have no clue what is the best way to do it, without getting an engineer out at £70. could some one help? i have sketched a quick drawing of the layouts, but im not absolutly sure where the official entry point is. so please have a look at it (below) http://img366.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cableinstallfd8.gif cheers
yosser_huges
Also, where would i put an aditional splitter? on the end of my ct100 cable, or buy a three way splitter, and replace the current on in my nans room
Cyclone
I doubt you actually have 2 cables coming into the house, but that's not really important. Do you specifically need another STB in the attic, or will you settle for watching the same channel as one of the other boxes? If the latter, then get a wireless tv extender from maplins. Ghozer
I dont think you can do this without asking telewest to do it as each signal is coded to the box that its being sent to.. and you only recieve a certain % of the 'signal' at any time (depending what channel your viewing) so using 2 boxes on 1 cable, with a splitter would cause problems.. fnkysknky
Where's the spare STB come from? You'd need to pay an extra £10/month subcritpion for the extra box as far as I'm aware. Just wiring it up won't work, the card has to be active.
