Creating MSI Installers

Has anyone got any experience with creating MSIs for installers that aren't pre-built as MSI?

I'm trying to make an MSI for Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 and it's being a real arse. WinINSTALL LE2003 isn't really making it any easier due to a lot of regkeys in HCR that I can't translate and other random error messages about the location of files for the installer.

All I wanna do is roll the app out through a GPO and by hell is it fighting.

Wise looks like a better program - but I still can't get the damned thing to work. With Wise - the attempt to do a direct convert on an old InstallShield fails with no meaningful error just a "could not". If I try to do an install capture on a completely clean windows installation, the MSI created just will not work.

Starts off with "Could not write row in table: Directory".. then if you look at the directory DB.. there are two entries that have dead links:

_000024fc and _00002111

Each has a default dir of the same name, but the parent dir is set to "Wise" and it simply doesn't exist. I don't know what these *should* be set to.

So much for simplicity. And this application costs money!

Don't you use SMS?

If you use SMS, the SMS Installer is a good tool for creating packages, which then can be distributed to all PC's with the SMS client (in certain collections, if that's have you have it set up).

Other than that, what about Flexnet Admin Studio?

How many PC's do you want it deploying to?
