Pingpang
it's originally the celebration of the winter solstice, christianity just hijacked it. nail on da heeeeeed the point in the solar cycle where sun is at its lowest, after which days get longer - sun is reborn - "birth of the son" bunch of roman thieves
Longcol
someone told me today about the new post office christmas stamps coming out, saying they are going to be religion free???? can anyone shed some light cos I'm feeling a bit thick? How can christmas be religion-free?? I seem to recall Christmas stamps without a religous theme in the 60's - kids paintings of snowmen and such. Well before anyone had dreamed up the "PC" label. I don't think anyone has seriously proposed banning Christmas / Xmas / the winter solstice. Christmas is religion free in my household - and I suspect the majority of homes in the country.
