Cyclone
it's originally the celebration of the winter solstice, christianity just hijacked it.

Cyclone
I just like having some time off work, an excuse to give and recieve gifts and the start of the ski season. I don't give a stuff about any religious conotation.
Swan_Vesta
In my house? Christmas is always cancelled! If I had a few bob to waste I'd hire a hearse to drive around town on the 22nd/23rd of December with an empty coffin in the back and a floral display spelling "SANTA". But to answer the question it'll be the usual pony about "Lets think about diversity" and try and make everything as uniform as possible in an attempt to not offend as many social groups as they can (not that I can imagine that the other religions would give a hoot). How can christmas be religion-free?? The Royal Mail Christmas stamps have been religion-free on several previous occasions. The theme was 'robins' a few years ago, as I recall. Most people are likely to have a Chistmas tree and holly in their home over the festive season, rather than a nativity scene, just as most people don't go to church over Christmas. JoeP
It doesn't matter a gnat's naughty bits if a corporate like the post Office decides to have non-religious theming of it's Christmas offerings. What matters is whether people celebrate Christmas themselves. I don't expect to wait for permission from the High Street, the Post Office and the Government to celebrate Christmas in my own way, which does feature religion.
