raincity
I moved to a new flat in manor oaks two and half months ago, the environment is really good. We enjoy living there. However, the water fee seems high, 90 quids for two and half months. We have three guys and used about 35 cubic meter water. Welcome to post your comments. cgksheff
Is this a bill from Yorkshire water, or a charge from your landlord? If it is from the landlord, what does your lease say about water charges?
zerocool
so are you on a meter? We pay a fixed rate, as much water as we like, 25 quid a month for a 3 bed semi in Anston. Our terrace in Tinsley was a tenner a month. Meters are expensive, but are still costly when you want to get rid of it!
Alex C.
As far as I can tell we are paying £40 for 6 months of water. I can't tell though, we've only had a sewage bill through so far and a seperate company supplies our freshwater so I'm not sure if thats the same price (£20/6 months)
raincity
cgksheff, thanks for you comments. The rent excludes the bill. Therefore, this bill is from Yorkshire water and we have pay it by ourselves.
cgksheff
£90 per quarter is around the average estimate they use for a house of 3: http://www.yorkshirewater.com/?OBH=2769 Is the bill based upon an estimate or an actual reading? You can look at the actual tariffs on the website, but it gets a little complicated as you have to add various charges for sewage, fixed charges, water usage etc.
raincity
to zerocool yes, this flat has a meter. I will finish my study in university next summer and will move out, so i have no plan to get rid of it. According to the bill, the total charges include water supply charges(102p per cubic meter), sewerage charges(106.7p per cubic meter) and surface water. raincity
to cgksheff Thanks for the link you posted here, which is really useful. According to bill, the first reading is estimated which is on the date when we moved in the flat. The second reading is the actual.
Plain Talker
It works out at about seven quid a week which isn't too bad. IMO
neeeeeeeeeek
Are you sure it's not an estimated bill? if it us you might find yourself in credit when you leave which could be a problem if lots of you share.
