handygammon
Has anyone ever seen the BBQ that seems to go on over the road from Yates wine bar on Division street every Friday night? Does anyone know what its all about? My mate recons it got some thing to do with a church.
Loops
Is it some kind of run for homeless people?
Crusader
Walked past it on Friday night, to do with the church, yep.
Meaks
Is it free? They normally give out free stuff the name of Jesus. The Christian Union used to give out free toasties when I was at University which was pretty reasonable. Idiots.
lalaland
It's the Jesus Army lot, they do free hotdogs for people. They used to do it by the Berkly Precinct on Ecclesall Road about 10 years back, we used to stop off to get free hot dogs most Fridays after a night out. I've not been over to them for about 8 years, but they used to be friendly and didn't make you listen in on what they had to say, you could just get the hot dog and be on your way which I thought was very nice of them. handygammon
Quality....you mean they are just giving out free burgers and hotdogs. What do they get out of it?
lalaland
It used to be just hotdogs, but they may do burgers too now I don't know. I think it's a recruitment drive, to make you aware of their organisation, but they seem happy to just feed the drunken people too and let them continue on their way, so it may just be generousity too. Anyone from the Jesus Army on here that can clarify this?
Blade1983
that sounds jolly reasonable of them! finally Christianity starts making a positive difference in the modern world! not sure I'd be too happy if my livelyhood was selling food from the back of a wagon in town though.... you can't really compete with hotdogs for £0.00 can you! I thought they were giving it away... not trying make money out of it. Either way its nice to see some Christians who aren't scared to do what they seem to preach about so much. I might check it out some time.

If I owned a "Snap Wagon" in Town, how would I compete with the church giving the food away free??? --- Not sure how I can explain it any clearer ---
