Was I too harsh on my daughter ??

Recommended Posts

She's wasted her money. She's your daughter, punish her as you see fit - don't get the opinion of people on here who don't know you or your family.

You did what you thought was right and I'd have done the same.

Waste.... interesting choice of words. I doubt she thought it was a waste... and if it was her money then surely making her own decisions and then living with them (ie not having a new top) is part of growing up?

My dad thinks I wasted 17 grand on a sports car, I hope he doesn't cut my pocket money off. I guess it's all about choices though, I want a sports car, he doesn't.

Well I've had a chat with her and apologised for flying off the handle like I did. And I've un-grounded her and I'll allow her back to Meadowhall..

She was very upset and kept apologising as I did too.

She told me that she didn't go onto any of the BIG machines (her words) and that she'll be more carefull with her money next time.. I've given her a limit of £5 MAX to spend in the arcades the next time she goes, but she say's she won't go in again.. I think I've put her off:|

Anyway, all is well again and she's stopped crying and I feel better for eating humble pie.. :) :)

Aww... that's great. :)

I'm impressed that she's so sorry and apologised too. Do you want to come round and sort my nephew out ? lol.

haha.. Boys are a different matter.. I have a 6 year old son that could do with some sorting out too..:D :D :D

Nahh..He's a good lad really.. Sometimes :rolleyes::D :D

Twelve year olds wasting money on crap...

Im 45 and my other half has to keep me away from money because if I get my hands on it, you can be sure that Ill spend every penny on shiny crap and sweets and... You know what I mean.

We all make mistakes so dont be so hard on yourself. Put it down to experience and be thankful that you dont have a bloke like me in your life who spends all his money on crap in poundland.

The main thing about pre teens is they have to learn to live by their mistakes. I would say the biggest thing she will have learned is how quickly you can blow £15 and when she asks for a sub on spending money you say no, she should have been more careful.

Grounding her and barring her from M/H is way too harsh IMHO. (sorry)

Parents live by their mistakes too. We don't receive much training for the adventure that is parenting and so sometimes we make misjudgements too and so I think some of you are being too harsh on sarah1 as perhaps she is on her daughter.
