Ginner
My nephew is after a 360 for xmas. We've seen the Core bundle (with game) for £200. He isn't likely to have an HD TV in the foreseeable future so isn't bothered about not getting the HD cables with this package. He only wants it for the game play (not bothered about Live or playing DVD's & CD's on it). My concern with the Core offering is the storage space. How much storage comes with it? The guy in Game said 12Gb, but I've read elsewhere it's 64Mb. Roughly how many game saves can you make with the supplied Core storage? I know the 20Gb hard drive is £70ish which he can buy later when he's saved for it, but is the Core edition readily playable out of the box? fnkysknky
The Core edition doesn't include any storage device (unless they've changed what's in it) - go for the Premium. With the Core as it is out of the box you cannot save games at all - you'll need to buy either a memory card or a hard drive. As you can't save games I don't think your nephew will be too impressed if he has to start a game from the beginning every time he turns the console on 64MB memory cards are available for just over £20 - how many save games you'll get depends on what game it is - some games such as Football Manager won't play without the hard drive. carpetviper
You would be better getting the premium pack and I would even think about getting him vouchers as you can get offers at the moment where they give you a selection of about 8 games you can have for £20 each but only on the day of the xbox purchase so if he gets money off other people he could make a real saving on game any probs pm me

I thought it odd, cos I would have expected to be able to save quite a bit with 12Gb storage, making the 20Gb option look expensive. It's sneaky that the info available on the Core option doesn't appear to clearly state that you cannot make any game saves without buying additonal storage (at least none of the reviews I looked at did). OK guys. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help Game staff = useless and know sod all about the stuff they get paid minimum wage to sell And don't even get me started on their employment policy, I rang up to apply for a job at the Town one a few years back, and they told me "Oh no sir we can't employ you, we're not insured to have disabled people on our premises", I'm sorry but WTF?! If I was wheelchair bound fair enough, but I'm not.
Ginner
wait till after xmas and c how much it cost Yeah, I'd considered that. Do the consoles tend to come down after xmas (never taken any notice). Also, any latest news on PS3 availability date (possibility 360 might come down in price at PS3 launch??). PS3 will ve out around March 2007 iirc, but it will cost £450 and that's without any games... Nintendo Wii however is less than HALF the price, AND comes with 5 Wii Sports games, as well as a normal controller and the Nunchaku controller... So Nintendo's £179 package is more complete than Sony's over £400 package! Sucks to be a Sony zealot does it not?
