mikeh
It seems that most of my schoolday pals, lads and lasses have no "puter" or have gone on to greener pastures. Most if not all my old teachers will have probably gone to meet their maker by now.The 50sthro the 80s was a great time to growing up.Anyone out here remember either school from 1953 t0 83 ? mike hayes:)
classicfan
Hello Mike, I went to Woodhouse Grammar in 63 till 64 from Swallownest Secondary Modern. Remember, this was the changeover to Comprehensive Education, and I have a vague memory of you, wern't you Head Boy? I lived close to Brinsworth. If I'm right you had blondish hair and were quite a stocky guy. Some names you may remeber, John Cobley, Tony Jacobs, Sandra Lightfoot, John Bradwell? Any ring bells? classicfan
Head nutter! Well it was a long time ago Mike. Reading some of the threads, I can remember Malc Lipscombe, also Paul Hartley from Harthill, they were Butchers. Did your family have a Butchers business in Brinsworth? The reference to "Holy Joe" Horner, he put lyrics together with the Joe Brown tune from the hit "Little Picture of You" and Joe Brown recorded it for him. Can you remember the bands that were formed as well, Pete Piper is still around, last I heard he was doing big productions of musicals, and was President of the Musicians Union in Rotherham, he formed "Just 3" that grew to 4, 5 then became "Darley Craws Amblers" The drummer was from Brinsworth I think it was Terry Stuart, but again the old memory could be playing tricks.
