Johnh
This has been forwarded to me by our company IT department:- We have been asked by Trading Standards to make you aware of this new postal scam. A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at http://www.icstis.org.uk
metalman
This is an urban myth - ignore it. We had it circulate a little while ago. Go to snopes.com and search for Royal Mail and you'll find it as the first entry.

Knoxville
Your company IT department are obviously sending you spam. There are no premium rate numbers that cost £15 as soon as you are connected. Did you really believe this? Have a look on Snopes
Darbees
BT or the phone service provider are complicit in these various scams where money is taken via the phone bill. They collect the money, keep a very high proportion of it and distribute the rest to the scammers. If the card doesn't say it is premium rate and the amount charged it is illegal anyway and so BT wouldn't be entitled to their share either. Cyclone
Someone in your IT department is very gullible, or a liar. Trading standards don't pass on chain emails and everyone should know by now that £15/minute phonecalls DO NOT EXIST. This has been forwarded to me by our company IT department:- We have been asked by Trading Standards to make you aware of this new postal scam. cgksheff
There may not be a number that can charge you £15 at the drop of a hat, but there ARE Premium Rate Phone Number Scams that do operate in the same way. (Albeit at £1.50 per minute online or so) http://www.oft.gov.uk/Consumer/Scams/premium.htm
henrypond
And the latest word from ICSTIS on this particular e-mail: http://www.icstis.org.uk/pdfs_news/email.pdf
upinwath
I had this one at home some time at the start of this year. Same thing with the delivery and a 09 number to call. Direct to the bin as soon as I saw the 09 bit as they all do. There are many bent gits out there after your cash but scams are easy to spot as long as you have your eyes open. upinwath
Further - These people are stealing your cash. The phone companies help them and take a cut for doing it. Could BT and so on be considered part of the scam and liable to actions against them ?
