peterw
Sportsmen tend to be young so I’m posting my query on here. hoping some of the older generation will remember Pete Desjardin, the 1928 Olympic gold medallist in springboard diving, appearing at Heeley Baths — 1942-43? — to give a diving exhibition. Whoever booked him I do not know, but the baths (a) wasn’t deep enough and (b) only had one springboard less than a metre about the water. Nevertheless, he went ahead with his exhibition and produced an amazing display of talent from that inadequate board! What a great diver! Each time he did a dive, he went into the water with hardly a ripple!
