Harry1000
Hello, I am doing some research into the church that used to be at the top of St. James Street near Campo Lane, and am having difficulty finding any pictures. The ones on Picture Sheffield (all 3 of them!) show just part of the tower. Does anyone in Forum-land have any better ones or know where I can find any more? Also any stories about the church would be of help as well!!!!

extaxman
Harry, Don't have any pictures but this might help. Taken from "Sheffield and Neighbourhood" published in 1889. St. James Church was built on the parish glebe in 1789 as a chapel -of- ease to the Parish Church. The cost was about £3000 raised in shares of £50 each of which entitled the holder to a pew as his freehold. The church was restored in 1877 at a cost of over £1100. The living is in the gift of the Vicar of Sheffield with vicarage. It seats 750.
