JoeP
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6105578.stm Quatermass and the Pit has always been one opf my great favourite science fiction films. And he foresaw 'Big Brother' (Reality TV show, not Orwellian nightmare) in a TV play he wrote in the 60s!
metalman
Indeed I was sad to read this too. He also wrote some excellent short stories in a book called Tomato Cain, and an excellent TV ghost story called The Stone Tape. Maybe they'll show some of his stuff again now. Sweetcheeks
Very sad to see that Nigel Kneale has died. He was a genius at writing sci-fi and horror and will be sadly missed. Quatermass and the Pit is still my all-time favourite film, I remember watching the BBC serial of the same when I was a nipper. I had nightmares for a long time after, then again at 5 I should not have been watching! Bless you Mr Kneale, you have left a wonderful legacy.
