Power light flashing

My cat stepped on the keyboard last night and sent the computer into 'stand by'. I don't know how to do that myself! Not that I'd want too.

I just pressed the reset button, thinking everything would be OK. But the power light on the case is now flashing on and off about once a second, which it didn't do before.

Asus A7N8X MB, Antec PSU.

Got any ideas?

Edit: It still works as I'm posting this from it. Just want to know what it is telling me.

Rather like that annoying Pink Floyd album you used to have?

Usually means the system is in standby. Have you closed down and restarted? (and checked the correct option is selected ? I know you have!!!!!)

Powered up this morning and it's still doing it. Everything seems fine, just shouldn't be doing it.

Thanks for the link Xircon, but it doesn't refer to a flashing light, unless I missed something.

Which Pink Floyd album would that be BTW? :)

The one that had the flashing LED on the spine, always caught my eye, very annoying

Ah, the live album, can't remember what it was called. Haven't got it any more. Must have lent it to someone and didn't get it back. AGAIN! There's a book called 'Genome' which I have had five copies of which have all gone the same way.

Anyway, back on topic.

Put the computer back into standby, as an experiment. Never used standby before.

Woke it up, and the light is not flashing now:huh: So it was a glitch.

So, what would cause this flashing to happen? The BIOS, MB, or Windows

Probably the Bios, have a look in your power settings tab and turn off keyboard access to "do nothing" its under the advanced tab, that way the next time the cat steps on the keyboard it wont screw it up
