needanswer
Does any body know why unasked for and unwanted links appeared on my favorites list. things named like Cool Stuff, Travel, Shopping Gifts, Internet, Computers, Online Gaming with Folders beside them and web links for Computers, Movie, Games, Web Hosting. I did a system restore back to when I know they where not there, but the stupid things remain on my favorites list. Also pop ups have started at the same time. I've set Privicy to High, but they keep on coming.
Silver
First thing to try is run a spware program like Adaware or spybot http://www.lavasoft.de/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html You can delete your unwanted favorites by right clicking them and selecting delete . needanswer
thanks for the reply. I have run spybot and these favorites will not right click and delete. When you right click it says "close Bar" with no option to delete

needanswer
I tried that. The only things in Favorites were things I had put there ages ago. The unwanted bits did not show there. But they still come up in Explorer. I wonder if this all comes from a windows update. I have XP running.
Silver
Try this and then see if you can view them * Click Start. * Open My Computer. * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. * Select the View Tab. * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders. * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Click Yes to confirm. * Click OK.
