Minesadouble
In All fairness a Sunday Lunch is only a ''larger lunch than normal'' - the effects of eating this will not keep your stomach full for the rest of the day and teatime ... I find i'm scoffing cheese on toast about 7.30 on many occasions after my LARGE Home cooked Sunday Roast . And yes I also get tired (something to do with the meat digestion i think) xxxx Yummy
prioryx
You streatch your stomach with a big meal and when your digestion starts to work your stomach shrinks so your brain thinks you are hungry

Bago
I used to find this when I was younger, perhaps the digestive system goes into overdrive to cope wth the unusual amount of food you're throwing at it and produces too much acid. This surplus of acid could be the hunger pangs you feel later on. On Sunday I usually have a can (or two) of beer before lunch and manage to stay awake long enough to do the washing up, - but then it's zonk time for at least an hour Don't usually feel hungry again until about 8 pm, and just have a little snack. I think it's this too. Hence why I have reduced down the amount of meat I eat, and I start to eat more vegetables (induces an alkaline stomach). It's taken me a long time to figure this. What you feel is not because your stomach lack food, and that you are hungry, but because there's an increase of stomach acid from a low acid state. I've been reading some diet/nutrition books in the past and realised that, different food induces more acid, or alkaline in our stomachs. Eating vegetable/fruits which contains citric acid will induce an alkalinity state in the stomach. Eating meat (which contains protein), need more acid to break down the proteins, and hence you feel 'gurgly', especially if you ate a lot of meat without vegetables to balance it. Also, if you ate a heavy meal around 8-9pm, full of meat and carbo. The next morning, your stomach will feel 'hungry' or gurgly first thing. Whereas if you didn't have this heavy meal, your stomach will be okay with little food the next morning.
