muddycoffee
The only reason I am asking this question is I was talking to my friend last night and she brought this up, and I was amazed, the exact same thing happens too me. My parents like to have a traditional sunday lunch and get the family around, and I go along usually twice a month. It is a hearty meal with plenty of meat and veg, and a pudding afterwards. After I have returned home I find that I am hungry again a couple of hours after eating, and this doesn't make any sense to me. Why is this? does it happen to everyone? Koalasfriend
I'm the same. Yesterday my boyfriend and I went for a cavery and stuffed ourselves. We then went straight home to bed for a few hours as neither of us could move - when I woke up I went straight to the kitchen and started munching! lizzmobile
Not meaning to be critical, but do you eat really quickly? If you chew your food well, the combination of foods that comprise a Sunday lunch should hang around in your gut for a good few hours before you start to feel hungry again. If you wolf it down (my bro-in-law sublimes his meals... ) the hungry feeling will return quite soon.

lizzmobile
It's amazing, you don't often realise how quickly you do eat until you are with peole who eat really slowly!
Ginger_Kitty
When i was growing up my grandad and i used to have a competition to see who cleared the plate first... its only now i've grown up (and suffered indigestion) do i realise this was a really BAD habit to get into.... muddycoffee
yes and this kind of thing only happens when you have a roast type dinner.. I wonder if it is something to do with the combination of carbohydrates and meat.

Actually yes, I do eat very quickly. It is how I was brought up. I will try to eat much slower. In future to see if it makes a difference. I usually have my main course finished before the last three people have had their meat carved. It is quite embarrasing when I think about it. Greybeard
yes and this kind of thing only happens when you have a roast type dinner.. I wonder if it is something to do with the combination of carbohydrates and meat. I used to find this when I was younger, perhaps the digestive system goes into overdrive to cope wth the unusual amount of food you're throwing at it and produces too much acid. This surplus of acid could be the hunger pangs you feel later on. On Sunday I usually have a can (or two) of beer before lunch and manage to stay awake long enough to do the washing up, - but then it's zonk time for at least an hour Don't usually feel hungry again until about 8 pm, and just have a little snack.
