RiffRaff
....work for a company that hasn't given any of its workforce any pay rises for 4 years? This applies across the board : office and admin employees, shop floor workers (both skilled and otherwise), maintenance engineers.... My Mrs. works at one such firm (on the outskirts of Sheffield, by the way) and although the staff are responsible and hard-working, the management always claim that pay increases are "being discussed" - but nothing ever materialises. Bear in mind these employees haven't even seen a so-called "cost of living" rise for that length of time, let alone a decent increase. Anybody else in he same boat? JoeP
Depends upon what the pay is like at the moment and what the working conditions are like. If it was a pleasant evironment with good pay as it is, I might be tempted - I'm currently working for less than I did a few years ago because the travelling is less, work more varied, etc. But I am a contractor and contractor pay is reasonable! I worked for the same company for 13 years, and we didnt get any kind of pay rise for the last 3 before I was made redundant. To be honest, they did me a big favour. I found somehting else within a week of finishing, that pays better, has far better working conditions, and for a company who actually cares about its staff. And I got a reasonable payout from the old firm as well.
Joanna
I was in a position of being promised a pay rise and was never given it. In fact, I was NEVER paid on time ever and left. Best thing considering the pay was so bad.
Pauline BHG
After working for 17 years now, i've finally found a job that I love, and the money isn't an issue. It used to be my main concern, but now i'm just happy to work somewhere that i'm happy to get up in the morning and go to !! i could go elsewhere with my skills, and probably earn more, but i'm happy where I am

Yes, good point... The office admin staff earn between £12k and £14k, with mid-management on a max of £20k.....hardly ground-breaking these days. Work hours Mon-Fri 08.30 - 17.00 every day : Location pleasant but remote - most work during their lunch break because there's nowhere local to get to/back in the hour if you're not mobile : Environment unpleasant at times because of "fumes" from the factory area : "Management Regime" a bit old-fashioned but fair overall.... Strix
This is usually the first 'symptom' of worse to come though If they aren't giving pay rises, will it be paying you late next? or not at all? There's a couple of cautionary tales on here already Start looking in the jobs paper
