gamzare
SURVEY FOR ONLINE GAMING.GAMBLING ONLINE. (instant win games, bingo, roulette, poker) THE LAST SURVEY THAT WAS DONE VIA THE GAMING BOARD WAS IN 2004 FOR ONLINE GAMING/GAMBLING. The government, The department of culture media and sport, dont think there is going to be problem with dept through online gaming, Mr Caborn and Mrs Jowell want UK to be the world learders of Gambling. Gambling commission set up in 2005, powers to be enforced by sep 2007. Online gaming sites will be able to become regulated in the UK, instead of offshore. My name is Vicky; I am 42, a single working mum. Earlier this year I lost £27.000 in 8 weeks through playing on an online gaming site that did not offer responsible gambling or player protection, which at the time I knew nothing about. The assisted funding was all from the bank and visa cards. Through research and phone calls I now have a good level of knowledge of the organisations within the online gaming industry. I desperately want to make others aware of the financial and mental dangers that can happen through playing on these online sites, my problem has happened, I want to prevent it happening to someone else. The only way I can do this is through the media, I have allowed my story to be published with out payment; I just want to get the issue recognized. I found it so easy to fall into the trap of gaming, at first it was a bit of fun, something new and exciting, something for myself, as a single working mum I rarely go out. I have been registering on sites that say they have responsible gambling, not to play, simply to look at their player protection. A lot of sites have become self-regulated and implemented responsible gambling on their home page, but setting the player protection is not a straightforward task. Far too often I found that there were too many hoops to go through so the majority of people registering will not bother looking for it because it is not always in front of them. The free play games, having these available on the site without having to register to play means that children can very easily access these games, basically the sites that allow easy access to the games for children are grooming them into potential gamblers. redrobbo
I've never visited an online gambling site, and have no intention of doing so. Your own experience should be a salutory reminder about the addictive nature of gambling. How exactly does 'player protection' work? Didn't your Visa card have a limit? How on earth are you going to repay £27,000?
gamzare
when i first came across responsible gambling, which was by shear chance, i did'nt know what it was, so i started to look into te laws of gambling for uk. because the interent, tv,and moblie gaming is realativley new to the uk their are no regulations. the gambling commision was set up in 2005 but the powers will not come into force untill 2007, which means then any gaming site tat is regualted in the uk will have to have responsible gambling on their home page and player protection, eg min max deposit level, some sites have loss levels and spending limits. the site i had played didnt have any protection or help at all, i didnt know about so i was blind. i do admit i was very stupid, but it just draws you in, i could go on forever as their is so much, i dont want to bore you. After a lot of research and phone calls, the site i had played on called me up asking "what did i want from them" my main topic for them was responsible gambling player protection. A few weeks later i was put in contact with the MD of the sites, sister site, wo are a big gambling organisation, again at the time i was playing i did not know who they were related to. I was recompensed with £17.000. i have continued researching and am trying to stop others falling into the same trap as myself, hence my survey, as the gambling commision dont think that this new style of easy gaming is going to cause a problem. my visa had a limit of £9.000, this went within just over a week, the first debits i did they text me to see if it was me,no further checks were done, even though the card was a newly validated card with a £0 balance. gamzare
Yes i know that now. there are 1000s of sites out there. the majarity of them are regulated offshore, and most of them offer no protection at all, with online gaming being available 24/7 its very easy to get drawn in by it. all that is needed is a little box where upon the customer is able to set a weekly deposit limit. The site that i played on had had their instant wins going for5 and half months, after i had made numerous calls trying to find out what responsible gambling, player protection was, this site called me 4 times, within 6 days of them contacting me they had implemented responsible gambling onto their site, apparently it was very easy to do. example. min max deposit limit from £20.00 - £350.00 set your deposit limit between these amounts for a week, whic can only be altered by calling the site, and then there is a time limit before it changes 3 days. problem is a lot of sites have a stupid max limit the higest i have come across that someone can set themselves is £20000.
