Cameras on the top of Traffic lights.

Recommended Posts

They're actually traffic control cameras; they don't have the ability to photograph red light jumpers. :)

Oh?

RED LIGHT

The Red Light Camera RLC 36 ('wet film') and the Gatso Traffic Camera (GTC) both register red light violations and speed violations. The RLC is used for registration of red light as well as speed offences during red, amber and green light with two photographs taken. The RLC automatically adds the offence data to the image whilst the photograph is being taken. The data is stored on a memory card

The cameras on 'top' of the lights aren't actually cameras but sensors. They pick up the lights from emergency vehicles and turn the lights to green to aid their response time.

Thats what i was told from a friend anyway. Seems to make sense too
