Heyesey
If it's a worker who is registered with some official body, or who has a few years' established work history, you're not really taking any risk - provided you don't leave the £250,000 diamond necklace where he can see it. Lock valuables away, and if you find vandalism or evidence of theft, you know who did it and you can easily get him arrested. If the worker(s) in question have no longstanding references and only a mobile number, I'd be very wary.
scarby
Or just do the decorating yaself, and save a few bob, aswell as knowing that there's not going to be any strangers in the house

Guest
well see it as a 2 way trust deal. you're trusting them alone in your house, and they trust you to pay them when they've done the job. As long as they're reputable (no cowboys) you should be fine!
Rooty
Personally i just wouldn't be able to trust a stranger in my house. Reputable or not people can still have a nosy at your things and tell people if you've got anything worth nicking. Thats just me though, i'm obviously very untrusting! Ashcroft
i have no choice. landlord or estate agents give the keys to a worker to let em self in. often come back home to find someone has been in. there were 1 time our drawers were left open by someone but that was a 1 off up to now:suspect:
