lalaland
At lunch time today I nipped in to Decathlon to pick up a few items. The weather wasn't very nice, hammering it down with rain and from the road I saw a couple of spaces free close to the door and decided one of these would be ideal to minimise getting wet. As I got to the car park, one of the spots was just taken by another driver, so I moved on to the next one. I got to it and found a BMW X3 (one of those large 4x4 things) had kindly parked across two car park bays. It's a minor thing I know, but I thought it very selfish as the rain was coming down hard, there was a spare space and the result was me having to park at the other side of the busy car park and run through the rain. I have nothing against 4x4 cars or their drivers and think if people want to drive 4x4s on public roads then that's fair enough (you need them in Sheffield anyway with pot holes), but if you can't drive them or park them properly then surely you shouldn't be on the road with it and should get something you are a little more capable to handle? My mate reckons they had parked in such a way to avoid someone else banging their door in to their expensive car while getting back in, but surely if that's the case they shouldn't park in a public car park if they are that worried, rather than selfishly taking 2 spots. I was going to leave a note for this person on their car about their selfish parking, but it was raining and thought it would just turn to pulp and make a mess on it. As I left I saw a woman get in to the X3 who seemed perfectly able bodied, so I ruled out her parking due to difficulties (plus the disabled bays were all empty) and put it down to her just being a crap driver or someone that lacks the ability to park properly. If it's you, please learn to park more considerately or sell your car and with the cash buy yourself a nice hatchback that you will be able to manage easier. You'll still have some cash left over, so call BSM, RAC or AA to get some parking lessons done and thing left over from that is yours to spend. It may not be a big issue, but it's annoying and the sign does warn that you'll be fined if you take more than one bay (although obviously in this weather the car park guy was nowhere to be seen ). speeed
I would have just parked in the space anyway! That or blocked them in!
lalaland
I couldn't get in the space, she'd parked that craply my car wouldn't fit I didn't dare block her in or park close even if I could have done, her parking suggested to me that her driving ability wasn't up to much or that that car was too big for her to handle and I didn't fancy a black mark all down my car from her beemer. Park directly behind her car, she aint gunna reverse in to yours. Her better half wouldnt have been to pleased if she had done!
WallBuilder
You see this so often nowadays and I'd assumed it was because people want to make darn sure that their precious vehicle doesn't get caught by another car door opening. However on reflection I've come to realise that there are far to many people driving around who just shouldn't have a license as their driving skills are pathetic or they are just downright ignorant, selfish oafs. Take your pick.

glennerster
Good point....well made. My mum drives a discovery and is rubbish at parking it which she freely admits, but for that reason she parks in big empty spaces instead of taking up two and walks.
