Jossman
I wondered if anyone knew my father Frank Swann. He was Production Control Manager in the red brick offices at the bottom of the little steep hill off Manchester Rd, Stocksbridge. He joined S.Foxes after the war and worked up until 1975. His last 13 years were spent on 12 hour nights, to build up his pension. He celebrated his 91st birthday on the 17th Oct ,06 and has drawn his pension longer than he worked there!! He is still in fair health and in quiet retirement in Ringmer, E.Sussex along with Mum (87). He sends his best wishes to all who may have worked with him and blesses the Pension Fund!! Jossman
Thank you all for your kind wishes. He still receives his £20 Co-Op Voucher every Xmas. In some weeks that was more than he drew in wages. How times change.
tazman
Jossman, I will ask my dad if he remembers him as he worked at Sammy Foxes all his life and then BSC etc, etc. He worked as a melting shop manager and then went to work in the melting shop at the back of the Victory Club at the bottom of the hill known locally as the Rocher where they started to deal with the special steels section. My dads name is Derrick Wood.

Could you ask him if he knew Arthur Hyde who was foreman in the Spring Shop. He died some years ago after working there for many years, and was my Uncle.
