zerocool
I got an email from petplanet telling me about litter kwitter, where it teaches your cat to use the toilet in the bathroom, i've ordered one as HWMBO hates the smell of the litter as we have 3 cats. I've trained one to go outside but the other hasn't got the idea yet. The other is an indoor cat and has no plans to go out at all. I'll let you all know if its worked, it takes 8 weeks to train them and it'll be here in 2 days. So.....new year I should wake up in the morning and find a cat on the loo when I want to use it! Anyone else heard anything about it??
JoeP
You can't be serious? This sounds horrible! An elderley or infirm cat wouldn't manage to clamber on to the loo. As for the smell, well, clean the tray out more often.
medusa
I know of a number of people who have had cats that used the loo spontaneously (and a few who have cats that drink from it too!) but none who have succeeded in training cats to use the toilet instead of a litter tray. It's a great concept, but as Joe says, what happens when they get too old to get up there? Do you have to retrain them to use litter trays instead? technophobe
I think its a great idea. My old cat used to wee down the plughole in the bath. My very very old cat (18 years) is shocking, she will go outside for a couple of hours then come inside and use the litter tray, and she will only use it if it is clean otherwise will find a corner somewhere in the house! yesterday I came home and she must have jumped up on the kitchen side then sprayed wee onto the wall which ran all down the wall and onto the floor where the little tray is placed. She sometimes does this up the walls when she is disgruntled and that I havnt paid her enough attention. She also lures you into stoking her whilst she is on the stairs then turns on you clamping your hand and rabbit kicking/scratching you. Maybe is was just an experiment that went horribly wrong. Strix
Do we get a clicky link to have a look at this contraption for ourselves then? I might have to stop reading this thread though People say cats are such clean creatures
JoeP
I just have this vision of going in to the bathroom to see a VERY upset cat peering out of the toilet bowl with a look in it's eyes that says 'You are SO dead when I get out of this contraption.' bluesandtwos
seen that, do let us know if it works . We have the litter boxes with a flap on which seem to contain odour pretty well, though one of ours uses the loo spotaniously, just need to teach him to flush it now.
