Please check for food in your garden

This was posted on a dog forum, but I guess it relates to cats too.

There has been a couple of incidents lately of poisoned meat being thrown over walls into dog owners gardens. The dogs are then let out into the garden by the unsuspecting owner, eat it and all have died :(

Someone I know of had 4 dogs all of which were poisoned recently and all of which died. She could see no reason for it but still someone felt the need to do it.

She is urging people to check their gardens before letting their animals out.

It's cruel and evil but by the time the owners had realised the dogs were poisoned, it was too late. :(

A friend of mine who owned a rather vocal dog found some suspicious meat in her garden a few years ago. Although it couldn't be proved she suspected a near by neighbour who thought all dogs were vicious and barking dogs especially so. The dog was ill but hadn't eaten enough of the food to kill it the vet said.

I've said it once I'll say it again, I'd do exactly the same thing to the person found hurting, ill treating or neglecting the animal.

You've made the point I would Wallbuilder.

Sometimes dog owners choose to ignore the menace their dogs can be to neighbours :(

The biggest problem is that neighbours no longer talk to each other, so if somebody is 'offended' by how a neighbour goes about their life, 'revenge' is the course of action that springs to mind first :(

... but I'd quite happily sign the petition for firing squad to be brought back in for treating animals in this way

tut, tut Strix - see the other thread, the death penalty is very bad as you may execute the wrong person, ie an innocent one.

A few years ago, it was feared that someone was poisoning cats in the Valley Road area of Meersbrook. I don't know if it was ever proved or found out who was doing it, but several cats did die of suspected poisoning.
