slimsid2000
With Hallowene just around the corner lets talk about Sheffield's most famous apperiation (apart from rony robbinson). I speak of course of Spring-healed Jack, AKA The Park Ghost who caused quite a comotion in the 1880's. Discuss.
Longcol
So who was this chap who was healed by the arrival of Spring. I suppose winters were worse in those days.

Longcol
Hi Sid Looks interesting but have you got links to any sites that don't use white print on a black background - they really hurt my eyes, and always give me the impression of sites produced by rank amateurs. Pook
i believe you mean this chap... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_Heeled_Jack I was walking down Shoreham street ther other night, coming up one of the alley ways next to my mates and for some reason SHJ crossed my mind. Freaked me out a little bit to be honest!
Escafeldia
This link gives the low down on Spring Heeled Jack. Origins in London apparently - no Sheffield connection aparently. Sounds like a Bogey Man to scare kids really: http://blackcatpress.co.uk/Spring_Heeled_Jack_Page.htm lots of things in the 19th Century seemed to be directed at scaring people of all ages but kids in particular. He was apparently seen in attercliffe once, chased by a bunch of people and cornered. He then jumped straight up onto a roof, and ran off jumping massive distances laughing in a mad, cackling manner. That's your link to Sheffield.
