Yellowrose
Helderfinger Cherry bought one of these today from Netto. The label says self pollinator, a good choice for garden use and a good pollinator for other cherries. Good Flavour with juicy flesh. As I knew nothing about cherries, I googled it and couldnt find Helderfinger but found Hedelfingen which I presume is the same, but many sites say it needs a pollinator, so if you know about the pollination habits of this tree, please post as I am confused now. Tracie
So no one knows about the sex life of my cherry tree eh? Sounds like a Jeanette Winterson novel doesnt it? It sounds like something Tori Amos would sing Have you seen this thread on The Grapevine? (GYO magazine's forum): http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine/showthread.php?t=368 There's some useful info on there about Hedelfingen trees, particularly the final post: "Hedelfingen is a mid-to-late blooming, sweet cherry. It is compatible with Van, Regina, Lambert, Windsor, Vogue, Sam. You cannot use another Hedelfingen. It is self-incompatible." Looks like you might be needing a second sweet cherry tree
Yellowrose
Yes, I found that on a google search. But I wondered why the label said self pollinator. I wondered if anyone out there actually had one. I wont be getting another cherry as I dont think I have room for it!
