Jess22
For the few horse owners out there. Now the nights are drawing in it is inevitable that to exercise your horse you have to ride in the dark. (unless you are lucky enough to have a menage) I was just wondering if anyone had come accross any new hi-viz or flashing equipment this winter? I ussually have on a lot of reflective gear and a flashing bib, but the rest of the lights I wear are cycle lights. What I am really after is some LED strips to put around an exercise sheet. Can anyone help? Or has anyone got any suggestions of how I might find LED strips? My horse is going to end up looking like a Christmas tree if I get many more though! Well done on being so bright Jess (in more ways than one!)... I tend to steer clear of the roads after twilight because we have a nice floodlit menage at my livery yard. But I really like the reflective leg bands you can get though to go round your horse's boots. I think it's really helpful for drivers to be able to see clearly where your houre's legs are, especially if he/she is skittish!
Jess22
Thanks, I'm quite lucky in that my horse is as good as gold in the dark, in fact sometimes she's better because she can't see scary things like a door being painted a different colour! which tend to be where her skitty moments come in. I ride out with reflective leg bands, reflective exercise sheet, martingale, headcollar, tailguard, jacket and hat silk. Then a flashing tabbard, small red bike light on her chest and lights on her tailguard. Takes ages to get ready! Cars do seem to see me from a way off which is good. Strix
If you don't find any horsey items to flash in the dark, you could stitch a flashing dog collar or lead to existing kit (or attach with electrical ties if more appropriate) remember not to stitch through the internal wiring though
