seriessix
Hailing from the south encountering the friendly nature of the people of Sheffield was quite a shock - I have never met such a helpful bunch or talked to so many strangers at bus stops. downtroad
I think the people of Huddesfield are just slightly more friendly.

upinwath
Wath is the friendliest place in the world. Agree or I'll smack you.
pertfoxylush
I think it depends, if you catch SOME people when they've just cashed their giro, than yes. This may just be a personal observation, but I've noticed that a lot of older people are just plain rude!! You hold a door for them and they either don't even acknowledge you or look at you like you've just asked them what colour girdle they're wearing. That's until you encounter the wrath of certain people on here .
fox20thc
My son asked me this only this morning on the way to school. We were trotting along and greeting passers by with a friendly 'good morning' seeing neighbours and asking the mandatory 'how are you' or 'are you well' DS said "isn't everyone nice to eachother around here" It made me smile. timo
We only do it to confuse people ... Ar that's reet, we do indeed. Beware of our tendency to 'slow time' unfortunate interlopers. In plain language, we often enjoy taking the mickey, and we drip with cynicism. The journalist Jean Rook loathed Sheffield and Sheffielders in general. Working for a time at The Star newspaper, Rook regarded the locals as 'terrible people', 'snide', 'cruel' and 'backstabbing'. It doesn't sound like us does it, ruby? It sounds rather more like Jean Rook, imo ...
