CockneyMafia
Where can I buy Muslin? How much does it cost, and is it reuseable?

purdyamos
Not yet another muslin thread! Haven't you got anything better to discuss than flimsy rustic haberdashery? There's a shop on London Road that does vinyl and fake fur and such like on big rolls. I seem to recall buying muslin there a few years back, though it's a bit of a schlep to find they don't stock it. I can't remember the name of the shop, for you to ring and ask. It's near to the army surplus place.
medusa
If you can't find any on the market, I know they stock it at the Fabric Warehouse on Shalesmoor. Last time I looked it was about £4 a metre for plain cotton muslin- I can't remember how wide though? What would you be doing with it that it would need to be reusable for? People shouldn't be using muslin anyway, they should be using stout English hessian, it's the begining of the end I tell you.

I should have been more explicit. I need it for cooking, specifically making stock and soups. its very good for giving a fine strained finish. babychickens
or go to a baby shop and buy a muslin square. actually, have you tried hanging around in the jessop? there's a 'bounty' woman in there who homes in on women who've just popped one out, and she gives them free stuff, which includes a muslin square AND some non-bio washing powder (ostensibly for use with baby clothes, but i suppose you could use it for christmas puddings or whatever, too).
