*Twinkle*   10 #26 Posted October 18, 2006 Right, first of all - I am 18, I usually have NO interest in babies whatsoever and I DONT want one. But all of a sudden every baby I see is so adorable and their little gurgles melt my heart. I'm usually a bit Cruella-ish so what is wrong with me?  I think I'm scaring my boyfriend a bit, hell I'm scaring myself, so how can I stop (apart from the obvious - looking after a child for the day )   Oh love what are you like? I've sworn my parents down that I wont make them Grandparents and that they'll hve to wait for my Sister to have kiddies... But like you, every so often, I wonder what it would be like to have one...  Being a career girl, I'm thinking late 20's... 28ish... After being married for a couple of years... (I know, I'm strangely traditional for a 19yr old!) But I just dont know myself well enough to be certain that I could put my career on hold and stop going out to work to stay at home and be a Mummy... I dont want to get a few months into it and just break down cos I'm not intellectually stimulated or whatever... Its so confusing for me, but all that tells me is that I am not ready and wont be ready until I am willing to put a family before my own personal life/career! AlBal   10 #27 Posted October 18, 2006 I do get broody from time to time, it seems to be in stages really. I once went through a period where i even dreamt a couple of times that i was pregnant which was rather scary!! But i think on the other hand, i am only 21, i've got a good few years yet before i want to have kids. i want to life my own life before i bring a new life into the world. at the minute i do what i want, go out as i please and spend money on me. all that would change if i had a child now. I do find it rather cruel that people seem to have kids so young, because they will obviously want to go and see their mates, so the child will need to be babysat then. medusa   16 #28 Posted October 18, 2006 come and spend a day with me in my final pregnant stages!! all the aches, pains and mood swings, no sleep, indigestion, getting up around 7 - 8 times in the night to do a thimble full of wee and being unable to get comfortable day or night......that should do the trick!  You have no idea how envious people can be- even of you being uncomfortable. I can't have babies, so I think it's all worth going through to create the new little life that you'll be holding in your arms soon. Pipine   10 #30 Posted October 18, 2006 I get random weeks where all I can think about are baby names and what it would be like to be a parent. The rest of the time (i.e. when the monthly hormones have worn off!) I couldn't be less keen on the idea!  I think this means I shouldn't have babies! Its not what I *really* want, its what my natural instincts expect me to do. I can't see my outlook changing much in the next few years, I'm 33 now so I guess I'll have to live with whatever regrets I end up having later. beckb   10 #31 Posted October 20, 2006 I am sure its the hormone fairies that make even the most unmaternal of us feel broody. A certain few days each month I feel extremely broody and have an overwhelming urge to pounce on my fella and make babies. I know its around the day of the month I'm allegedly ovulating! He calls it my nice few days a month - before reality and PMT kick in!  I've got a ten year old - so I've done the childbirth, sick and nappies etc and therefore manage to contain this irrational broodiness!  Its nature's way of making sure the human race continues! sheff_minx   10 #32 Posted October 21, 2006 I got told off by Rubydazzler at the last forum meet for saying that I was broody!!  I'm only 20 though and although one day I want to have babies with Vini, I think I will wait a bit yet.  I would love to be a stay-at-home mum though... At least until they start school - I want to spend every possible second with my babies when they get here... she says now!!! Just you wait, I'll be begging for a babysitter within minutes knowing me!!!
 Share this content via...

I think I'll probably juggle both when I have one.... in a long long time....   I just dont think the maturity is there on my part yet.... If I cant put a family before my own career and development, then I aint at the right maturity level to even think about being broody!  Dont get me wrong, I'd like a family one day... But only when I'm financially stable and wont struggle for money or childcare.
 Share this content via...
EdnaKrabappe   14 #34 Posted June 10, 2007 Mm - I'm feeling weird as this was my waking thought this morning was, 'Even if I got pregnant TODAY, I'd be 37 before I gave birth!' Where has that come from?  I've got loads on my mind to do with work (report deadlines etc) so you think the last thing would be children on my brain! I'm not a broody person AT ALL I'm never the person cooing round a baby, so where have these feelings come from???? Did my body clock get a kicking in the night?  I'm also a single girlie so hardly in the position to be considering this either! I'm also not planning on leaving the house today as too much work to do, so chances of getting impregnanted are slim to zero:hihi:
 Share this content via...
