goldenfleece
Setting up a digital DJ music system.....can anyone recommend a decent sound card that will get the very best out of MP3 encoded files, mostly done at at 192kbs and higher. Testing at the moment using PC with a built in Realtek 97 sound chip, its not bad but sounds a bit flat, which is what I would expect from a bundled audio chip on a relatively cheap Foxxcon mainboard... AM I correct in thinking by adding a decent sound card I can expect improved dynamics and and a better input source to a external sound system? fnkysknky
I'm no specialist but check out what Turtle Beach are currently offering and also the Sound Blaster Audigy's are supposed to be good - both do versions with a load of input/outputs. GabbleRatcht
Does it have to be internal? If not I would recommend a USB or firewire box. Look here

SpeedwayDan
m audio fast track pro's are very good for the money, they're usb external devices. you can buy them for around £130 now. other manufacturers to look out for are emu, edirol and terratec. goldenfleece
actually worked out external space will be at a premium so will prob go for internal card, was thinking of something like this... http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?CRE-XFIX
GabbleRatcht
If you are going pro in the audio world, do not rely on a mini jack connector. Use 3 pole jacks or preferably XLR. Balanced lines are all important.
Ghozer
I would recomend Turtle Beach, if you have a small-medium sized budget.. and stick with internal sound cards... Whilst a USB sound card is great, and may offer the mobility, USB is often unstable, and is software driven so for the best performance all round, your best option is an internal... If money is no issue, some GREAT Studio Level Professional Sound cards are listed below, in no particular order.. Audiotrak Maya44 m-Audio (The Delta 1010-LT is a good card ) (see this link > http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/sound_cards.html < Theres also external ones there ) CDX•D8™ AES/EBU (Includes XLR+BNC breakout cable) DigiGram PCX882HR (See this image, and link.. http://www.digigram.com/images/image_gallery/product/pcx882_bob8_lg.jpg <> http://www.digigram.com/products/getinfo.htm?prod_key=12750 also see http://www.digigram.com/products/index.htm - and scroll to Sound Cards (there's a huge selection, and i'd highly recomend them)
