goldenfleece
The best laid plans just dont work!! I wanted to get to Campo Lane this morning in rush hour and decided to avoid the Westbar way of getting to Campo Lane, via Glossop Road/University Roundabout, etc. Instead I decided to go down Glossp Road and across ring road to West Street and turn left at the bottom of West Street City Hall end .....OOPS, you cant do that anymore, so many changes down there with dead ends and one way I forgot it was closed off....so went round in a circle and came back out on West Street, determined not to get jammed in traffic around West Bar, and cut down Rockingham Street, taking first right onto that road that runs past the Grapes pub, which last time I drove down there led directly onto Campo Lane (sort of). Of course, it was NO ENTRY at the end so had to do a U turn as the little side roads leading onto West Street were all covered in road works.......ended up having to join West Bar traffic after all, but SURE there is a way of getting to Campo Lane from West Street??? Sat Nav is obviously out of date when I tried that as it wanted me to turn left at end of West Street, which you cant do anymore, and it also was quite happy for me to go through a NO ENTRY sign into a one way system at the end of the road with the Grapes on, (Trippet Lane??). It also sugested the little side roads off West Street but there are all closed off with road works.... Any ideas.....or is it West Bar traffic jams only...... Faye12
Could you have driven to the Park Square roundabout near Ponds Forge, and driven past the law courts ? turned left before west bar roundabout? does that help?
goldenfleece
hmmm...I have completely lost myself....why is Sheffield so stuffed full of silly one way streets and NO ENTRY signs......its the only City I know where sat nav is totally and completely USELESS and out of date with road systems.... Faye12
Thats because they are always changing things and items as hi-tech as sat navs have problems keeping up with the pace LOL!
goldenfleece
I shudder to think how anyone arriving in the middle of Sheffield and using a sat nav would actually be able to get anywhere aside from on an endless loop of one way streets and dead ends.....not only does the Tom Tom preferred route not work, all the sugested alternatives are closed with road works or or just not feasible as they are NO ENTRY, obviously recent road changes.
